- PNG or JPG – Both Work WellEither format is fine, as long as the resolution is sufficient. We recommend at least 150 dpi at your intended print size. PNG is best for designs with transparent backgrounds.
- Contrast Makes the DifferenceVivid, well-lit photos with strong contrast print most vividly. Very dark, flat or grainy images tend to look muted on white mugs.
- Black Mugs Need Light ArtworkIf you're using a black mug, choose a design with white or very light elements – anything too dark will simply blend into the mug.
- Magic Mugs: Sharp Edges WinThe reveal effect on magic mugs works best with bold, high-contrast designs. Fine detail and soft gradients tend to get lost in the transition.

What image format should I use for my mug design?
PNG and JPG are both supported. The key is resolution: aim for at least 150 dpi at the size you want to print. PNG works best for designs with transparent or cut-out elements.
Can I put my personalised mug in the dishwasher?
Our mugs are best suited to hand washing. Regular dishwasher cycles can gradually weaken the print. We recommend warm water and a gentle washing-up liquid to keep the design looking its best.
How quickly will my mug be delivered?
Most mugs are printed and dispatched within 1–2 business days of your order being placed via DHL. Total delivery time is typically 2–3 business days.
How does a magic mug work?
When cold, a magic mug appears completely black. Pour in a hot drink and your hidden design gradually appears. As the mug cools, the image fades back to black – ready to surprise again next time.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
No – at Shirtinator there is no minimum order. You're welcome to order just one personalised mug.
Can I use a full photo on a panorama mug?
Yes – the panorama mug has a wrap-around print area that runs the full circumference of the mug, making it perfect for wide photos, family portraits or landscape shots.
Are personalised mugs safe to use in the microwave?
Most of our ceramic mugs – including the Classic White, Panorama, Two-Tone and XXL – are microwave-safe. The exception is the magic mug: it should not go in the microwave or dishwasher, as the heat-sensitive coating can be permanently damaged.
What printing method does Shirtinator use?
We use dye sublimation printing – a process where heat and pressure permanently bond the ink into the surface of the mug. The result is scratch-resistant, UV-stable and holds its colour through many wash cycles.
